Thanksgiving Memories

November 29, 2008

Another wonderful Thanksgiving… And so much to be thankful for.  My old friend Johann, who I have not seen in ages, came over for Thanksgiving dinner.  At first I was jumping with joy as I was so glad to see him.  As this was a bit much for everyone, I came up with a new strategy:  Try training him to do tricks.  I started with a few easy ones like sit and down.  I then moved into more complicated ones like “popcorn” where I get him to throw a treat and I catch it.  I finished the evening with a few of my favorites including “Strike a pose”, “Leave it and Take it” and “Crazy Eights.”

Here is a look at Johann practicing with me.

As Thanksgiving drew to a close I put my recipes back in their sheet protectors and put my photos into photo holders to savor my memories until next year.

Canine Good Citizenship Certificate

November 20, 2008

Last night I passed my canine good citizenship test and sent in for my certificate.  When it arrives I will attach the certificate to my office wall using my magnetic cubicle keeper.  Everyone will be so impressed.

At the same time I passed the CGC test I also passed my test for Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy.  I guess I am certifiably friendly.  Rainbow is a volunteer organization committed to using the capabilities and magic of dogs in therapeutic environments, especially with children.

Friedr. Dick 10 inch Chef Knife

November 18, 2008

You may ask why I jump so well.  The answer is simple:  cheese and tennis balls are great motivators.  That is where a 10″ Friedr. Dick chef knife comes in handy.  Before practice we use our chef’s knife to make perfect, bite sized cheese cubes.  We then put them in a reclosable small parts bag and off we go.  Or I guess it is over we go!

Why I like name badges

November 8, 2008

In agility class we started a new session.  It is so hard to keep track of everyone’s names.  Let’s see, does Royal have the brown paw or the white one?  White, obviously.  But wouldn’t it be easier to keep track of each other if everyone wore pressure sensitive name badges?  We would not even have to waste time sniffing each other.  Yes, I’m sure name badges would make it easier.  Hopefully our agility instructor will have some out next time.

Here we are in class today.

Get Organized for Election Day

November 4, 2008

It is election day today.  I did lots of research in preparation so that I would be organized when it was time to vote.  After a two hour wait in line, I opened my file, checked my notes and voted NO! for dog catcher.

Organizing Agility Photos

November 2, 2008

This week while I was practicing my rear crosses in agility practice, I thought about how the best way to keep my photos organized was to use 4 x 6 Photo Holders in my scrapbook.  Here I am in practice.  Those turns sure are tight.
